About

My name is Oleg Patsay.

I am a software engineer and AI lead with more than 11 years of experience in software development and engineering leadership.

For most of my career, I have worked on high-load web systems: designing architectures, writing and maintaining production code, contributing to product and process evolution, and taking responsibility for technical decisions and their long-term consequences. This experience shaped my view of technology as a system where tools matter, but thinking, discipline, and ownership matter more.

In recent years, my work has focused on integrating AI into products and engineering processes. Not as a standalone technology, but as part of existing systems — with attention to architecture, code maintainability, team maturity, and business goals. In practice, AI rarely introduces entirely new problems; more often, it accelerates and amplifies existing ones. For that reason, successful AI adoption starts not with model selection, but with rethinking engineering practices and boundaries of responsibility.

I have a solid understanding of machine learning, neural networks, and modern LLMs, and I work with MLOps and cloud-based AI services. At the same time, I believe that the hardest challenges of AI initiatives lie not in the models themselves, but in how they are embedded into development workflows and decision-making processes.

My role is to act as a bridge between business and engineering teams — translating product and strategic goals into architectural decisions, helping teams retain control over their systems, and ensuring that AI genuinely strengthens people instead of diluting their expertise.

In this blog, I document observations and reflections on engineering thinking, architecture, code review, and responsibility in the age of AI. These are not tutorials or prescriptions, but an attempt to understand how we can continue building complex systems when the pace of change grows faster than our ability to fully comprehend it.
